The PST Annual Report April 2009 - March 2010
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
This is my sixth annual report and I am pleased to report that during the
past year the Trust has provided substantial support and help to many
of our clients in a diverse number of ways. It is with regret that I report
two resignations within the Trust. Lady Bloomfield has resigned as a
member of the Board of Directors after giving many years of loyal
support; she was an avid attendant at the meetings of the Board and her
contributions will be greatly missed. R.J. (Ian) Clarke has resigned as
outreach worker. R.J. joined the Trust as outreach worker at its
inception and over the years he worked enthusiastically for all the clients
in the North West. To both, Lady Bloomfield and R.J., I thank them for
their loyalty and commitment over the years and wish them well for the
future.
We remain committed to our core purpose, to provide essential services
to our eligible clients in the form of health support (both physical and
emotional), educational and pastime courses, life planning, social
support and assistance to disabled clients.
Our current funding will end in March 2011. At time of writing the Trust
is preparing a Business Plan for submission to the Northern Ireland
Assembly requesting funding for a further 3 years commencing April
2011. I will, of course, keep you informed of the Northern Ireland
Assembly’s decision in this matter and wish to take this opportunity to
thank the Northern Ireland Office for the funding received for the current
and past years.
Once again, this year, I urge serving staff and retired staff to become one
of our members by joining the many others who donate on a regular
basis to our fund. Becoming a donor makes one eligible for many
benefits offered by the Trust and it is hoped to extend these benefits in
the coming months. Details can be obtained by contacting the Trust’s
Manager, Ivan Bolt, or a Board member at the relevant station. I extend
sincere thanks to our already donating members.
The premises leased by the Trust at River House, Castle Lane, Coleraine,
BT51 3DR have been a fantastic success with classes being held on an
almost daily basis. These premises will continue to be utilized for use by
our clients in the North West and at time of writing the manager, Ivan
Bolt, is researching the feasibility of further new classes commencing in
the premises. I extend genuine thanks to the volunteers in the North
West who man the premises on a daily basis, their commitment is
commendable.
To conclude I wish to thank my Board colleagues, staff, volunteers and
clients for the support received during the past year.
With best wishes for the future.
